It was a cold, windy and rainy Thursday evening. The medics braved the typical English weather and headed to Rugby for our first away friendly. Upon our arrival, we were whisked straight on to the pitch and into the game without any real time to warm up or properly introduce ourselves to some new players.
“New players!?” I hear you cry. Well, I think the term “borrowed” is more appropriate…a big thank you to Scott for playing as our fantastic goal keeper as our very own Jon Sanders could not make it, and also to the two first years (Alex and Andrew? Someone correct me here if I’m wrong) for joining VERY last minute!
As always, I’ve forgotten the details, but no surprises when a certain first year medic spent most of the match dribbling and not passing to any other fellow team members (you know who you are!) We let some goals in (oops) and we scored some goals too (yay!) and all in all, it was a fantastic evening, even though the overall score was 7-2 to Rugby.
Man of the Match - Scott for some spectacular saves in goal, which stopped the other team from reaching double figures
Dick of the Day - Harry Winter-Taylor for numerous reason including (but not limited to):
- Complaining about the weather
- Insisting that the match should be cancelled because of aforementioned weather
- Trying to ring up Rugby Hockey Club to ask if the match was cancelled
- Moaning during the entire car journey to Rugby…mainly about the weather
- Stripping down to his boxers in my car without any warning (scarred!)
- For being allergic to gluten
- An additional reason should be because he never writes the match reports!!
